Aaron Spiers Big Band featuring Libby Hammer

Touring to Fremantle from London (UK), Aaron Spiers will be performing with an all-star, 15-piece big band featuring the vocal talents of Perth’s own Libby Hammer. Their performance together promises to be an exciting and energetic journey through Aaron’s signature compositions and inventive arrangements of jazz standard repertoire tailored to Libby’s unique voice. The combination of these seasoned performers, in this beautiful setting, will prove to be an unforgettable afternoon of music.

Aaron’s previous recordings explore the combination of improvisation and an energetic fusion style often associated with Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius and Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew. Aaron’s career highlights since living in the UK include performing with Kim Wilde (UK) and supporting Toto (US) whilst touring to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Wales and across the UK. Libby has released four albums with her group Hip Mo’ Toast, and appears on albums with Troy Roberts and the Jazzaziz compilation series. Libby has performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and alongside such Australian jazz icons as James Morrison and Joe Chindamo. She has worked with international jazz artists such as Josh Hilberman (USA), Christoph Spendel (Germany) and two-time Grammy Award winner Gary Bartz (USA).

'With his take on contemporary fusion, Aaron Spiers always delivers an exciting performance. Whether he's performing originals or classics by the likes of Weather Report, his ensemble sounds tight, with a groove you can't hep but move to.' - Johannes Luebbers, Perth Jazz Society (AUS).

'Libby's strength and grace is grounded in the tradition of the greats, yet her sound and approach is so wonderfully her own.' - Troy Roberts (saxophonist/musician/composer)
