Band line-up
Ali Bodycoat and the Libby Hammer Quintet

Well, trim the turkey, wrap the reindeer, stuff the sleigh bells and chimney the chestnuts, it’s Christmastime again, and that means the Libby Hammer Quintet will once again appear for three cosy and carol-filled concerts on the Ellington stage. Christmas with Libby and the boys has become such an essential Yuletide event for some, that Libby wrestles each year with how to create variety in the program, while also acknowledging that it’s the selfsame annual customs that people cherish and find comforting. After all, what is Christmas if you don’t write a lame Christmas joke on a napkin and send it up to the stage for Libby to read out? Or get up onto the stage with half the audience to try to play handbells on Libby’s cue? Or belt out crass Pogues’ lyrics along with everyone in the room? Nonetheless, and because one of 2020’s most-used words was ‘unprecedented’, tonight’s concert will comply by featuring, for the very first time at this Christmas event, a special golden guest of Christmas glory - Ali Bodycoat!

Perth music devotees will know that Ali and Libby are musically joined at the hip, and BFFs besides. With at least ten musical projects under their belt, to hear them sing Christmas music together is like rediscovering the joy of a child on Christmas Eve, no less. And for those who have never lost that feeling (bless your cotton stockings), rest assured that our old friend with the little round belly (like a bowlful of jelly) will also be dropping in to give all good little audience members a well-deserved toffee.

Whether you’re a Good Samaritan or a Scrooge, be ready for a delightfully jubilant evening of festive holiday tunes, and a partridge in a pear tree.
